  John Lambert is one of Britain's best-known and respected draftsmen, specialising in Royal Navy Warships of Destroyer size and below also their weapon systems and equipment.
He is the author of over 350 magazine articles and 8 books. All his material is gathered from authentic and official sources.
Always keen on the sea he was in the Sea Scouts, Sea Cadets and in 1955 joined the London Division of the RNVR. Called up for National Service in February 1956 he was selected for rapid promotion in the engine room branch (SSM(E)). He served aboard HMSs Sluys, Theseus, Albion, Scott and Bulwark after signing on for 9 years.
On demob in February 1965 he joined the Metropolitan Police.
After meeting Alan Raven he started drawing warships from shipbuilders plans, as a "hobby" from 1972.
